International figurative art from South Africa

22.3.2024

In April, interested parties will have the unique opportunity to get to know the art of international puppet making when the Handspring Puppet Company, in cooperation with the Ukwanda Puppets and Designs Art Collective from Cape Town, comes to the Ruhr area for a workshop to share its expertise.

Learn practical methods for building puppets and gain unique insights into the art of bringing figures to life. The aim of the workshop goes beyond learning: in summer, the participants themselves become teachers when they spend a week creating animal figures with children at primary schools in the Ruhr area and developing forms of expression together.

Period: 22 to 26 April, 9.30 – 16.30 each day
Location: Figurentheater-Kolleg, Hohe Eiche 27, 44892 Bochum

Participation in the workshop with the Ukwanda Puppets and Designs Art Collective is free of charge. Participants will receive a fee for the workshop in schools.

The workshop will be held in English.

If you ideally already have experience in practical work with children, would like to get to know the art of puppet making and pass on your knowledge, please apply by 1. April via email.
