From 20 to 23 August as well as from 3 to 6 September, ZEIT REISEN invites you on a four-day cultural tour to the Ruhrtriennale. A diverse programme of musical theatre, concerts, performance and visual arts awaits you.

VIsit the Ruhrtriennale 2026 opening with ZEIT REISEN! Highlights include a visit to this year’s opening production, Rebel Rebel, directed by artistic director Ivo Van Hove with music by David Bowie; the musical theatre piece Emily – No Prisoner Be, featuring opera star Joyce DiDonato; and Ingoma! - Eine Revolution im Rhythmus, a concert by Rwanda’s first all-female and thus revolutionary drum ensemble, Ingoma Nshya.

ZEIT REISE to the premiere of Balkan Erotic Epic

3 to 6 September 2026

The programme for the ZEIT REISE in September includes a visit to the premiere of Balkan Erotic Epic, the new immersive performance by influential artist Marina Abramović, as well as the artist talk In Conversation between Abramović and Ruhrtriennale artistic director Ivo Van Hove. You will also visit the dance performance Landless & Opus by Christos Papadopoulos at PACT Zollverein in Essen and a concert of the Bulgarian women's choir Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares.

The festival experience is complemented by a discovery tour of notable sites in the region – such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein or St. Gertrud Church in Essen, a project of Manifesta 16 Ruhr.

All trips include accommodation at a Ruhrtriennale partner hotel, tickets for the events, and admission to guided tours, sightseeing tours or transfers.
