Ruhrtriennale 2025 - Welcome to Wunderland!

5.8.2025

Once again this year, the heart of the Ruhrtriennale beats in the pink-colored festival center Wunderland. Visitors can attend workshops, concerts, or spoken word on weekends and party with the “Cute Community Radio” on Saturday nights. Wunderland, located next to the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum, offers audiences, artists, and other festival participants a place to meet, exchange ideas, and relax. The workshops range from craft and hobby horsing workshops for children and adults to DJ and dance workshops with the festival's artists.

The teens from the Junge Triennale, the Friends of the Ruhrtriennale, and the participants of the Ruhrtriennale's International Festival Campus also meet regularly at Wunderland. From here, it's also just a short walk to the concerts in the Turbinenhalle and the Jahrhunderthalle, where Sivan Ben Yishai invites you to join the Brave New Voices talk series on Sunday afternoons.

The opening weekend at Wunderland

At the start of the Wunderland weekend, Wohnzimmerslam e.V. will present a poetry slam featuring four of the best slammers from the Ruhr region on Friday, 22. August at 5 p.m. The Wunderland will open at noon on Saturday. At the first Do-It-Yourself-Saturdays workshop at 3 p.m., participants aged 6 and up can embellish clothing or accessories with glitter and rhinestones under the motto “Art to go.” In the afternoon, singer/songwriter Joël-João will perform in the Ruhr Diamonds series, presenting music with elements of indie pop, rock, soul, and R'n'B. After the performance of I Did It My Way at Jahrhunderthalle and the concert Erased Music: Tribute to Wendy Carlos with the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble at Turbinenhalle, the Opening Weekend Party Down The Rabbit Hole will start. DJs, disco balls, and summer drinks promise the best summer party atmosphere.

On Sunday, the day begins at 11 a.m. in the Dampfgebläsehaus with the Sunday Dancers workshops, led by artists from the Ruhrtriennale. At 1 p.m. in the Jahrhunderthalle, the Brave New Voices discussion series will focus on the topic of loneliness. Host Sivan Ben Yishai will talk to sociologist Dr. Janosch Schobin about the topic. At 3 p.m., the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble invites to a concert in a relaxed atmosphere in the Turbinenhalle: Every Sunday afternoon, artists from the festival present an additional program called Relaxed With... Performances, which also welcome neurodivergent visitors.

In between and on the side, you can make yourself comfortable in the cozy deck chairs at Wunderland, have something to eat and drink, or continue to be active and play table tennis or chess. The weekend in Bochum concludes with the fourth performance of I Did It My Way at the Jahrhunderthalle, after which visitors can end the day comfortably at the Wunderland.
