Ruhrtriennale Brave New Voices – Conversations on Climate Protection, Capitalism, and AI

7.5.2025

This year, the Ruhrtriennale Brave New Voices series will engage in dialogue with prominent voices from the arts, science, and society. Every Sunday at 1 p.m., host Sivan Ben Yishai will discuss the issues of our time with her guests: on August 24th, she will discuss loneliness with sociologist Dr. Janosch Schobin; on August 31st, she will discuss climate justice with climate protection activist Luisa Neubauer; on September 7th, she will discuss artificial intelligence with Marie Kilg, Chief AI Officer of Deutsche Welle; and on September 14th, she will discuss the intersections between economic power and political influence with Turkish journalist and writer Ece Temelkuran. On September 21st, the 2025 Mortier Awards will be presented as part of the Brave New Voices series in collaboration with the Mortier Awards Association. This will be followed by an artist talk on the topic of artistic freedom.

As host, Sivan Ben Yishai is looking forward to the exchange on the various socio-political discourses: "I envision a lively discussion in which different positions, political and poetic, are heard. The point is not that we necessarily have to find a solution or agreement, but rather an intelligent exchange that leads to an expansion of our perspectives. And if everyone can achieve even a millimeter of difference, then we have had a successful discussion!"

For the award-winning playwright, the series is also about connecting the various themes: "It's impossible to talk about capitalism without addressing the topic of loneliness, and when you talk about loneliness, you can't leave out the topic of artificial intelligence," says Sivan Ben Yishai.
