On the creation of the set design for Balkan Erotic Epic
Marina Abramović, the world’s most influential performance artist, says describes Balkan Erotic Epic as “the most ambitious work” of her career. The immersive set design, through which the Ruhrtriennale audience will move from 3 Sept 2026 in the Kraftzentrale at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, was created by Anna Schöttl. The set and costume designer has already worked with Abramović: in 2020, they collaborated on the set design development for the opera project 7 Deaths of Maria Callas at Bayerische Staatsoper.
