Sylvain Cambreling

The French-born conductor Sylvain Cambreling is considered a great fan of imaginative programming and is known for his extraordinary concert arrangements as well as for his ability to relate contrasting works and composers to one another. Sylvain Cambreling was general music director of the Staatsoper Stuttgart from 2012 to 2018 and guest conductor of Klangforum Wien from 1997 to 2018. He has been principal conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra Tokyo since 2010 and chief conductor of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra since the beginning of the 2018/19 season. In addition to opera engagements, Sylvain Cambreling has also conducted concerts with leading international orchestras, including the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics, the radio orchestra of London, Oslo Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
