David Marton

Direction and Concept

David Marton born in Hungary studied piano at the Academy of Music in Budapest and at the School of the Arts and Music Conservatory Hanns-Eisler in Berlin. During his studies he already worked as a musical director in many theatre productions, in particular at Volksbühne Berlin with Christoph Marthaler, followed by Burgtheater in Vienna and the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, to name but a few. He regularly works at the Münchner Kammerspiele, tracking questions of musicality and its translatability in theatre. At the Opéra de Lyon he staged "Capriccio, Orpheus and Euryidice" and "The Damnation of Faust". The magazine Die Deutsche Bühne nominated him opera director of the year in 2009 for his productions of "Lulu", and "Don Giovanni. Keine Pause".
