Heiner Goebbels


Heiner Goebbels is one of the most important exponents of the contemporary music and theatre scene. His compositions for ensembles and full orchestras are performed worldwide, as are several of his music theatre works and staged concerts. He has created a great variety of sound and video installations which have been displayed in London, Lyon, Dresden and others. Since 1999, Heiner Goebbels worked for nearly 20 years as a professor at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies at Justus Liebig University in Giessen and was president of the Theatre Academy Hessen from 2006 until 2018. Since 2012 to 2014, he was the artistic director of the Ruhrtriennale. In 2018, Goebbels was given the first appointment for the newly established Georg Büchner Professorship at Justus Liebig University.
