DJ Maboku

DJ Maboku was born in Angola but moved to Portugal when he was 6 with his mother fleeing the then burgeoning civil war plaguing the country in the early 90’s. He was part of the PDDG crew (Piquenos DJs do Guetto), formed circa 2006, that saw their debut 12'' 'B.N.M./ P.D.D.G.' released on Lisbon's Príncipe label late 2013, getting elected 'Album of the Month' on SPIN's Control Voltage, amongst other accolades. He forged CDM in 2009, a production duo with his friend and hugely influential producer for an entire generation of PALOP diaspora, DJ Lilocox, forging a committed union of mind & souls set to work on originating a new style of sound for their neighborhood parties.

CDM's debut 12'' entitled 'Malucos de Raiz’ came out in 2015 on Príncipe, an aesthetically and spiritual landmark for the label and this autochthonous electronic dance music style of the Greater Lisbon area. More recently, worth of notice to the inclusion of ’Tarraxo Eléctrico’ at Warp’s Cargaa series compilation and CDM's commissioned remix for US left field electronica act Earthly's 'Backflip'.

Maboku has been a regular on Príncipe's monthly party 'Noite Príncipe' at Musicbox club in Lisbon, and has been playing out consistently more in euroland in the last couple of years. Highlight sets include Jaeger in Oslo, one memorable Berlin's Schinkel Pavillon terrace party, the incredible Just Jam bash at Barbican in London at the end of 2014 or last Summer’s epic Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands.
