International Festivalcampus / Summer School

Research and Experience

In 2013, art and theater students from across Europe are once again invited to come to the Ruhr region to attend seminars and workshops as part of Ruhrtriennale’s Summer School program.
For the Festivalcampus, students from the arts and humanities leave their traditional academic context of training and bring their ideas and skills into discussions and projects.

In the inspiring atmosphere of the festival, they collect visual experiences, speak about what they have seen, and exchange ideas across disciplinary boundaries. Festivalcampus will offer participants insight into artistic practice and the opportunity to enter into a vibrant discussion—not only with one another and the Ruhtriennale team, but most importantly with the artists from around the world participating in the festival.

What does it mean to explore space? How are we all shaped by space? To discuss these questions, the Ruhrtriennale has invited cultural studies students from ten European universities to Jahrhunderthalle Bochum from Sept. 4–9, 2013 to participate in the Summer School. The Summer School is organized by Gießen’s International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture and its partners in cooperation with the Ruhrtriennale.
