A

Appleblim

Dubsteppa Laurie 'Appleblim' Osbourne was born in Derby and following numerous moves reached London in 1994 where he became bassist with the experimental rock band The Monsoon Bassoon.  His time in London was strongly influenced by pirate radio until 2002.

Pierre Audi

Pierre Audi grew up in Beirut in the Lebanon, where he was born, and in Paris.   He founded the Almeida Theatre in London in 1979 together with its Festival of Contemporary Music, which he ran until 1989.  Since 1988 he has been Artistic Director of the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam.

B

BaBa ZuLa

The Turkish band BaBa ZuLa from Istanbul makes psychedelic electronic music with overtones of a futuristic Istanbul culture connecting East and West.  Belly dancers and traditional intruments such as the darbuka and electric saz are part of their fascinating stage shows.

Stefan Bachmann

was born in Zurich in 1966.  He studied Humanities in Zurich and Berlin.  He has worked as a freelance director in Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and Zurich.  From 1998 to 2003 he was Drama Director of Theater Basel.  In 2007 he directed ‘Scorched’ by Wajdi Mouawad at the Vienna Akademietheater (Nestroy Prize 2008 for ‘Best Director’) .

Deniz Baspinar

was born in Cologne in 1972.  She completed her diploma studies in Psychology at Cologne University.  In 2008 her entry Zu Gast won WDR’s radio play competition on the theme Sind sie zu fremd, bist du zu deutsch (If they’re too foreign, you’re too German).

Dalila Belaza

The dancer received her first training from her sister Nacera Belaza and took part in masterclasses with the Butoh choreographer Ushio Amagatsu.  Since 2004 she has worked with the choreographer Yann Lheureux on improvising her own piece Les main blêmes.

Nacera Belaza

was born in Algeria. She lives and works in France.  After studying French Literature she decided to devote herself completely to dance and founded her own company in 1989.  Since then she has created eleven choreographic works which have been seen around the world.

Jan Bosse

Jan Bosse studied theatre direction at the Ernst Busch High School for Performing Arts in Berlin until 1997.  Productions followed in Berlin, at the Wiener Festwochen, the Münchner Kammerspiele and from 2000 to 2005 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg under Tom Stromberg including Faust I.

Felicitas Brucker

completed courses in Theatre Studies, Literature and Communications Sciences in Munich and Directing at Goldsmiths College, London.  With her world premiere production of Engel by Anja Hilling at the Münchner Kammerspielen she was invited to the Festival Radikal Jung at the Munich Volkstheater in 2007.

Barbara-David Brüesch

graduated in Theatre Directing from the Ernst Busch High School for Performing Arts in Berlin.  Her productions include Saltwater by Conor McPherson (2001, Theater am Neumarkt, Zürich), Nightsongs by Jon Fosse (2002, TIF/Staatsschauspiel Dresden), Buddenbrooks in the version by John von Düffel (2006, Stadttheater Bern), Locusts by Biljana Srbljanovic (2006 Staatstheater Stuttgart).

Sue Buckmaster

Sue is the Artistic Director of Theatre-Rites and fourth generation of theatre practitioners in her family. She is a director, puppetry specialist and teacher. Sue has worked with many companies including the National Theatre, RSC, Young Vic, Sadler's Wells, South Bank Centre and Complicite.

Pilar Buira Ferre

The freelance dancer and choreographer was born in Lleida, Spain in 1961.  She trained at the Ecole international de Danse Rosella Hightower Cannes and the Folkwang Hochschule Essen.  Her teachers included Carolyn Carlson , Josef Nadj, Jean Cebron, Steve Patox and Hans Zullig.

Avivit Caspi

Avivit Caspi is an Israeli London-based singer, performer and musician. Last year she made history singing the Israeli national anthem at Wembley Stadium to a live crowd of 80,000, plus millions of tv viewers. She has played in leading UK festivals including Glastonbury, and internationally including New York, Chicago, Singapore, Barcelona.

ChorWerk Ruhr

is a vocal ensemble whose repertoire stretches from western monophony and polyphony to oratorical works.  It also works increasingly on innovative and experimental forms of expression.  Recent activities have focused on programmes transcending the boundaries of culture and genre.

Elisabetta d’Aloia

Elisabetta trained at The Place and Laban. Her performance credits include Transitions Dance Company, Bare Bones, Frantic Assembly, Retina, Protein Dance, William Tuckett, Hofesh Shechter, Kim Brandstrup, Russell Maliphant Company, Sarah Dowling and Stephanie Schober.

Zeljo Davutovic

The artistic direction of the CHORAKADEMIE lies in the hands of Zeljo Davutovic.  He studied church music, choral direction and harpsichord in Weimar.  His training was completed with numerous courses in choral direction and organ.  Together with Lars Kersting he has been artistic dirctor of the CHORAKADEMIE since its foundation in April 2002.

Danielle de Picciotto

Danielle De Picciotto was born in the USA and completed her studies in New York and Bonn.  Her artistic practice covers painting, music and film.  In 1989 together with Dr. Motte she founded the Love Parade in Berlin.  From 1990 to 1995 she was the singer with the international band ‘Space Cowboys’.

Willy Decker

Born in Cologne, he studied philosophy, theatre studies, musicology and vocal studies in his native city. He began as an assistant director in Essen and at the Cologne Opera, where he soon became senior resident director. His first individual opera productions already attracted international attention at the end of the 70s.

Assia Djebar

The Algerian is the most significant and internationally the most successful author from the Maghreb.  She is also a historian and filmmaker and lives in Paris and New York.  She was awarded the Neustadt Literature Prize in 1996 and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 2000.

Maren Eggert

completed her training as an actor at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich.  She has performed at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and has been a permanenet member of the acting company at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin since 2009.

Hartmut El Kurdi

was born in Amman, Jordan in 1964 and grew up in London and Kassel.  He studied Cultural Studies and worked as a theatre director, actor and writer.  In the last five years he has given over 400 readings of his children’s books in schools, bookshops and libraries.

F

Sherko Fatah

was born in Berlin in 1964 and grew up in the GDR. In 1975 he moved to West Germany.  He studied Philosophy and Art History in Berlin.  In 1999 he was awarded a stipendium by the Literarischer Colloquium Berlin.  Sherko Fatah’s much-praised debut novel Im Grenzland was published in 2001 and won the aspekte Prize for Literature the same year.

The Forsythe Company

With the foundation of the Forsythe Company in 2005, William Forsythe has created a new, flexible structure for the further development of the diverse creative work which he had begun with the Frankfurt Ballet.  Forsythe is renowned for approaching classical ballet as a repository of ideas which offer rich potential for the growth of formal structures.

William Forsythe

grew up in New York and began his training in Florida with Nolan Dingman and Christa Long.  He danced with the Joffrey Ballet and later with the Stuttgart Ballet, becoming their resident choreographer in 1976.  In the following seven years he created new works for the Stuttgart ensemble and for ballet companies in Munich, The Hague, London, Basel, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Paris, New York and San Francisco.

Günter Grass

The sculptor, graphic designer and writer was born in Danzig in 1927, completed an apprenticeship as a stone mason after his release from an American prisoner of war camp and studied graphics and sculpture in Düsseldorf and Berlin. His first volume of poems and drawings was published in 1956.

Andreas Grüter

comes from Luzern and studied lighting design at the Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich.  He has developed the lighting for numerous productions including Company at the Prinzregententheater Munich, Elementarteilchen at the Bavarian State Theatre Munich, Lucrezia Borgia at the Opéra Marseille, Idomeneo at the Theater an der Wien and My Fair Lady at the Admiralspalast Berlin.

Christoph Gurk

After studying Philology, New German Literature and Philosophy in Hamburg, Christoph Gurk worked as a journalist for the city magazine Szene Hamburg and from 1993 as Editor in Chief of the magazine Spex in Cologne.  He moved into a curatorial role, conceiving projects for steirischer herbst in Graz and was responsible for the music programme of the Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz in Berlin, where he has also worked as a project dramaturg since 2003.

Wolfgang Gussmann

works as a freelance stage and costume designer principally with the directors Willy Decker and Andreas Homoki. For the Ruhrtriennale 2009-2011 Gussmann is Artistic Advisor to Artistic Director Willy Decker. Together they worked on Le Vin Herbé by Frank Martin in 2007 and Moses und Aron in 2009.

Alexander Hacke

Alexander Hacke plays in numerous influential bands, writes songes, makes recordings, publishes and performs music under the pseudonym Alexander von Borsig.  In 1980 at the tender age of 14 he became a member of the band Einstürzende Neubauen.  He is known to film audiences as the protagonist of the Fatih Akin Film “Crossing the Bridge – The Sound of Istanbul”.

Thomas Hauert

was born in Switzerland in 1967 and trained at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie. He danced with the Kompanie ROSAS of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker as well as with Gonnie Hegers, David Zambrano and Pierre Droulers before founding his own company ZOO in Brussels in 1997, with whom he has since investigated in numerous pieces the body’s potential for movement, the dynamic links between a group in space and the relationship between dance and music.

Jeremy Herbert

Jeremy Herbert is a multimedia artist and stage designer. Previous work includes: Man and Boy: DADA (Almeida/US tour); Imber (UK site-specific); Mary of Egypt (Aldeburgh Festival); The Tempest, Beauty & the Beast (RSC); Attempts on her Life (Piccolo Teatro, Milan); 4.

Christof Hetzer

Christof Hetzer was born in Salzburg and studied with Erich Wonder in the Masterclass for Stage and Costume Design at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.  He has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer since 2001 at theatres including the Schaubühne Berlin, Theater Bremen, Theater der Stadt Köln, Theater Heidelberg, Oper Frankfurt, Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Vlaamse Oper Antwerpen.

I

Vladimir Ivanoff

Born in Bulgaria, Vladimir Ivanoff studied Musicology, Art History and Theatre Studies in Munich and the Renaissance lute in Karlsruhe and Basel.  He has taught at a series of universities since 1985, lectured at symposia and congresses and published articles in a number of professional journals.

Philippe Jaroussky

was born in 1978, initially studied violin, piano and composition, then from 1996 vocal studies and ancient music at the École de Musique National in Paris. His extraordinary voice and performing talent rapidly made him one of the most sought-after interpreters of both spiritual and worldly baroque music and he is featured on several prize-winning CDs.

Josef Joffe

Josef Joffe grew up in Berlin and studied Politics, Economics and Philosophy in America and Europe.  He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.  He has been publisher of Die Zeit since 2000 and was also Editor in Chief from 2001 to 2004.  From 1985 to 2000 he was leader writer and departmental head at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, having previously been responsible for Die ZEIT’s  Dossier.

Constanze Kargl

was born in Vienna in 1970.  After studying German and Philosophy at Vienna University she spent a number of years working for international film festivals in areas such as catalogues, press and guest relations.  From 1997 to 2002 she ran the press office of the Vienna Film Festival Viennale.

Necla Kelek

was born in Istanbul and lives in Berlin.  She has studied Business Administration and Sociology and took her Ph.D. in Greifswald.  Her books Die fremde Braut, Die verlorenen Söhne and Bittersüße Heimat are bestsellers and long-sellers and have had a lasting impact on the discussion of integration and Islam in Germany in recent years.

Michael Kerstan

studied Education, Psychology and Politics in Saarbrücken and Tübingen and subsequently became assistant to the composer Hans Werner Henze in his educational work.  After graduating from the University of Tübingen he became artistic director of the Deutschlandsberg Youth Music Festival, the KulturRegion Stuttgart and of Junge Kultur in Hallein.

Akram Khan Company

The company is funded by the Arts Council and tours Great Britain and internationally.  It has appeared at leading international festivals and received numerous awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for zero degrees (2006) and the South Bank Show Award for bahok (2009).

Khan of Finland

Khan was born Can Oral of Turkish-Finnish parentage in Frankfurt.  He went to New York and ran his own record shop there.  At the same time he also produced hundreds of records in various styles under more than ten different names.  His numerous projects and collaborations include Kid & Khan (with Kid Congo Powers) and Legally Jammin (with Little Annie).

Akram Kahn

The award-winning choreographer Akram Kahn was born in London into a family of Bangladeshi origin in 1974.  He began dancing at the age of seven and studied with the great Kathak dancer and teacher Sri Pratap Pawar.  He began presenting solo performances of his work in the 1990s, maintaining his commitment to classical kathak as well as modern work.

Andrea Koschwitz

Andrea Koschwitz studied Theatre Studies at the Humboldt University Berlin and began her theatre work in 1984 as dramaturg for theatre at the City Theatre in Karl Marx Stadt/Chemnitz (which included dramaturgy for Heiner Müller’s Bau directed by Frank Castorf in 1986), the Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater Schwerin and the Berlin Schaubühne.

Arno Kraehahn

lives and works as a composer and sound designer in Berlin.  Since the mid-90s he has collaborated closely with Jan Bosse, Kathrin Plath and Stéphane Laimé.

Daniela Kranz

completed the directing course at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.  In 2000 she founded the directing team Kranz/Nordalm with whom she directed productions including Krankheit oder moderne Frauen by Elfriede Jelinek (sophiensaele, Berlin), the German premiere of junk space by Kathrin Röggla (Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus) and Unschuld by Dea Loher (Theater Freiburg).

Aino Laberenz

began by studying Art History before she worked as a costume assistant at Schauspielhaus Bochum from the 2001/2002 season.  Freelance work followed at Wuppertaler Bühnen and the Schauspielhaus Zürich, where she was employed full-time in 2003/2004.  Sha has worked as a costume designer at a wide range of theatres including Schauspielhaus Bochum, Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Vienna Burgtheater, Schauspiel Frankfurt, the opera house in Manaus in Brazil, the Bayreuth Festival, Staatsoper Berlin and Bonn Opera.

Stéphane Laimé

has worked as stage designer with Jan Bosse on every production since his diploma production Macbeth in 1997.  He has also designed sets for directors such as Stefan Pucher, Thomas Ostermeier and Thomas Dannemann.  In 2007 he won the Nestroy Prize and in 2008 the Opus Prize of the Deutscher Bühnenverein.

Hagen Matzeit

After training as an electronic signal mechanic, the countertenor Hagen Matzeit studied singing (baritone) and education in Berlin.  He took part in directing classes by Ruth Berghaus, Peter Konwitschny and Harry Kupfer.  He made regular guest appearances at the Komische Oper Berlin with a repertoire spanning numerous periods and styles.

Susana Mendoza

Susana Mendoza studied costume design in Berlin from 1991 to 1997.  Her work has led her to Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Lübeck, Göteborg, Hamburg, Rheinsberg, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Rostock, Barcelona and Kassel.  At the Ruhrtriennale she created the costumes for Moses und Aron in 2009 together with Wolfgang Gussmann.

Wajdi Mouawad

The writer, actor and director was born into a Christian family in Lebanon. Their flight from the civil war led the family to Paris for several years and eventually to Montréal in Canada. Mouawad trained there as an actor and founded the Théâtre Ô Parleur with friends.

The musikFabrik is an international ensemble of solists specializing in contemporary music.  Alongside modern classical pieces and contemporary works, which include regular compositions commissioned by the musikFabrik, it takes a special interest in engaging with modern forms of communication as well as experimental interdisciplinary projects which combine live electronics, installation, dance and music theatre.

Mohsen graduated from Central School of Speech and Drama. Credits include Romeo & Juliet, King Arthur and the Quest for the Grail (Little Angel Theatre), Doctor Dolittle (David Ian Productions), The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Mostly Harmless Productions), Charlie & Lola's Best Bestest Play (Polka Theatre), Peter Pan (ThreeSixty Entertainment), In  One Ear, Mischief, Lighten Up, Salt (Theatre-Rites), In The Night Garden (Ragdoll Ltd / BBC).

Samir Odeh-Tamimi

The Palestinian-Israeli composer Samir Odeh-Tamimi was born in Tel Aviv in 1970 and studied musicology in Kiel, composition in Bremen with Younghi Pagh-Paan and compositional analysis with Günter Steinke. His studies were completed with scholarships and further study in France and Italy.

Elisabeth Orth

The Austrian Kammerschauspielerin and Bavarian Staatsschauspielerin (Actress of State) Elisabeth Orth was born in Vienna and trained at the Max Reinhardt Seminar.  She held engagements at Ulm City Theatres, the Vienna Burgtheater, the Renaissance Theater Berlin and the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin.

Albert Ostermaier

The author lives and works in Munich. His literary career began in 1988 with the publication of his first poems. He has worked as a dramatist and librettist since 1993. His plays for the theatre have been staged by numerous well-known directors including Andrea Breth and Martin Kušej.

Simon Palmer

Originally from Essex (UK), Simon graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) Leeds in 2005, before joining Verve, also based at the NSCD. Following this he joined Tilted Productions for their works Glacier and TrAPPED, and is currently collaborating with them on two new works.

Ewald Palmetshofer

was born in Upper Austria in 1978 and studied Theology and Philosophy/Psychology in Vienna.  In 2007/8 he was writer in residence at the Vienna Schauspielhaus.  His plays include: hamlet ist tot. keine schwerkraft (Vienna Schauspielhaus 2007, director: Felicitas Brucker), wohnen.

Orhan Pamuk

was born in Istanbul on 7th June 1952 and grew up in a middle class family.  Before he turned to writing he studied architecture and journalism.  His first two novels Cevdet Bey and Sessiv Ev, currently being prepared for publication by Hanser, were awarded leading Turkish literary prizes.

Caroline Peters

was born in Mainz in 1971.  She studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater at Schauspielhaus Zürich.  Since 2004 she has been a permanenet member of the acting company at the Vienna Burgtheater.  She has worked with directors including Dimiter Gotscheff, René Pollesch, Nicolas Stemann, Stephan Kimmig, Martin Kušej, Luc Bondy and Jan Bosse.

Armin Petras

Director, author and since the 2006/2007 season Artistic Director of the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. He studied directing at the Hochschule für Schauspiel ‘Ernst Busch’ in Berlin. He directed at theatres including the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden.

Kathrin Plath

studied Theatre Studies, Art History and Political Sciences.  She worked as a costume assistant at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin from 1993 to 1996 and since 1997 as a freelance costume designer.  During this period she was worked consistently with Jan Bosse.

Christina Pluhar

discovered a love of renaissance and baroque music while studying classical guitar at Graz University. She studied the lute and baroque harp in The Hague, Basel and Milan.  In 1992 she moved to Paris and has since become one of the most sought-after musicians in the Ancient Music scene.

Nick Powell

Recent theatre work includes composing music and sound for Dunsinane and The Drunks (RSC), The Priory and Relocated (Royal Court), Curtain (CDN Madrid), Panic (Improbable), The Family Reunion (Donmar), Bonheur (Comedie Francais), The Wonderful World of Dissocia, Wolves in the Walls (National Theatre of Scotland).

Fernanda Prata

Fernanda Prata has been working as a professional dancer, deviser, teacher and choreographer for over 16 years. Dance credits include: The Duchess of Malfi, Faust, Masque of the Red Death, Forest, Tunnel 228 and Sleep No More (PunchDrunk), Park and Lullaby (Jasmin Vardimon), Off the Wall (Stan Won’t Dance), In the Days That You Followed (Sarah Crow), Empresta-me Teus Olhos, Dividuo, C.

Proudpilot

The Istanbul band Proudpilot consists of the siblings Pınar and Ekin Üzeltüzenci on keyboards and bass and the drummer Kaan Akay.  They sing, whisper, shout and don’t shy away from experimental sounds and are famous for their live performances.  In 2009 the band released their debut album Monsters Exist.

Q

Alim Qasimov

was born in Shamakha, Azerbaijan. In Baku Qasimov studied with the leading teachers of mugham, an improvised form of religious song.  At the age of 25 he won the Djabbar Qarjaghdioghlu competition and was named the best singer of his generation.  In November 1999 Alim Qasimov was awarded the International IMC-UNESCO Music Prize.

Ramadanman

David 'Ramadanman' Kennedy has been DJing from the age of 14, beginning with deep house and hip hop, and being attracted to jungle and dubstep as he grew older.  His numerous releases have attracted considerable critical praise.  He has also remixed a number of other musicians including The Ragga Twins and SpectraSoul.

Bernhard Robben

studied Philosophy and History in Freiburg und Berlin.  From 1983 to 1984 he worked as a German teacher in Bangor, Northern Ireland.  In order to supplement his pay as a Fellow at Merton College, Oxford, he began working as a freelance journalist for the BBC in 1987 and also as a freelance translator for a wide range of German publishers.

Daniel Rohr

was born in Zurich and, after an apprenticeship and starting a course at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, trained as an actor and director.  Following numerous engagements at the Schauspielhaus Zurich, the Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich and several theatres in Germany, he founded his own theatre festival Göttingen.

Peter Rundel

has become renowned for extraordinary versatility in his work with major European orchestras  and as a brilliant specialist in contemporary music.  He also conducts opera productions with leading directors and has collected numerous prizes for his recordings.

Sarband

The ensemble Sarband is an international chamber music ensemble founded in 1986 by Dr. Vladimir Ivanoff which has specialized in musical relationships between Orient and Occident, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, for which it has already received numerous prizes.

Shackleton

Producer and co-founder of the Skull Disco label Sam Shakleton has his roots in the London dubstep scene.  He has lived in Berlin for several years and moved to the Perlon label there.   The style of his music is characterized by eastern influences, the physically tangible weight of the bass and the intricate polyrhythmic programming of the percussion.

Christoph Schlingensief

was born in 1960 in Oberhausen. After many short films he shot his first full-length film in 1984 Tunguska - Die Kisten sind da. This was followed by Menu total (1985), Egomania (1986) and Mutters Maske (1987) among others. Between 1989 and 1992 he filmed the Germany Trilogy: 100 Jahre Adolf Hitler - Die letzten Stunden im Führerbunker, Das deutsche Kettensägenmassaker and Terror 2000 - Intensivstation Deutschland.

Sebastian Schug

studied directing at the Ernst Busch High School for Performing Arts.  His diploma production of Federico Garcia Lorca’s When Five Years Pass was invited to the 2005 Warsaw International Theatre Festival and led him to be named by Kurt Hübner as Young Director of the Year on behalf of the Academy of the Performing Arts.

Martin Schwab

was born in Möckmühl,Württemberg in 1937.  He trained at the Ernst Busch School in Berlin and at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.  Engagements led him to theatres in Oldenburg, Ulm, Stuttgart, Bochum and Frankfurt/Main.  He has been a member of the acting company at the Vienna Burgtheater since 1987.

Scuba

Paul Rose alias Scuba is one of the most influential figures in the world of dubstep.  As the head of the London label Hotflush Recordings, he has released the work of Benga, Shackleton and Joy Orbison. He is also one of the people behind Sub:stance, a party with artists like Mala, D-Bridge, Scion and Kode9 in the Berlin club Berghain.

Harriet Shillito

Since graduating from Wimbledon College of Art where she studied Performance Design, Harriet has produced costume designs for theatre company Diverse City, graphic work for The Kosh, collaborated with students from London Contemporary Dance School with a dance installation at The Place and most recently, designed the set for a post graduate production of The Late Matteo Pascal at LAMDA which toured to Bologna.

Luca Silvestrini

Italian-born Luca Silvestrini is co-founder and Artistic Director of award-winning Protein, work includes: Publife, The Banquet, Big Sale, Dear Body and LOL (Lots of Love). He has created work for Candoco, Bare Bones, Intoto, Transitions, LIFT. Theatre and opera credits include work for ENO and Royal Court.

Gurpreet Singh

Gurpreet Singh trained at LAMDA. His previous theatre includes: Nation (National Theatre), White Open Spaces (Pentabus), Zameen (Kali Theatre Company/Soho Theatre), Twelfth Night and As You Like It (Royal Shakespeare Company), Orientations (Border Crossings), Bombay Dreams (Victoria Apollo), East Is East (New Vic Theatre), Othello (Leicester Haymarket).

Steven Sloane

The American conductor has been General Music Director of the Bochumer Symphoniker since 1994 and Chief Conductor of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra since the 2007/2008 season. As one of the artistic directors of Ruhr.2010, the multiple award-winner Steven Sloane is responsible for conceiving the program for the European Capital of Culture 2010.

David Sterne

David Sterne has just finished Nation at the National Theatre; he has played in many theatres nationally and internationally. On TV he’s played a regular in Holby Blue, Thief Takers, Down To Earth, The Queen’s Nose and the Mysti Show and can be seen in many popular TV shows, recently: Merlin, Crash, The Bill, Doctors & The Commander.

Studio musikFabrik | Jugendensemble des Landesmusikrats NRW

The Landesmusikrat (Regional Music Council) of North Rhine Westphalia launched the ‘Regional Youth Ensemble for New Music’ as a pilot project at the beginning of 2006 and this is now supervised by the musikFabrik along with the Landesmusikrat.  The ensemble is made up of excellent young musicians playing contemporary music under expert guidance.

Dai Tabuchi

Dai Tabuchi was born in Japan and trained at Rose Bruford College and Ecole Philippe Gaulier. His TV credits include: Holby City (BBC), A Cloud Upon the Slope (NHK, Japan), Hornet Queen (BBC, Narration). Film credits include: Munich (Stephen Spielberg); Shanghai (Mikael Hafstrom); Choshu Five (Shou Ishiguro).

Arno Waschk

is a pianist, arranger and composer.  He has conducted world premieres of music theatre pieces by Sören Nils Eichberg in Tangermünde and Christoph Schlingensief’s Mea Culpa at the Vienna Burgtheater, to which he also contributed numerous original compositions.

Anna Watson

Anna Watson is a lighting designer for theatre, opera and dance. Recent collaborations include: Opera North, Royal Opera House, Young Vic, Oily Cart, Clean Break and HeadLong, with whom she developed a variety of work, ranging from large scale Gilbert and Sullivan, through promenade site specific projects, to experimental improvised performances.

Samuel Weiss

trained as an actor at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna while also appearing at the Burgtheater, Schauspiel Frankfurt and the Staatstheater Stuttgart.  Since 2001 he has been a leading company member at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus.  Samuel Weiss has also enjoyed an extensive career acting in cinema and television productions such as the award-winning cinema short Summertime, the television series Die Albertis and Bella Block and the features Amsterdam (director: Ivo van Hove), Im Sog der Nacht (director: Markus Welter) and Giulias Verschwinden (director: Christoph Schaub).

Lyndie Wright

Lyndie Wright was born in South Africa where she studied artbefore moving to London. She and her husband John Wright founded the Little Angel Puppet Theatre in 1961. Since then she has designed and made puppets for many of that theatre’s performances as well as for other companies including Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, The Globe and has worked with the Munich Puppet Players in making performances for the Brandenburg Opera.
